Talon David isn’t just an artist, you might say she’s a one-woman orchestra. Writing, arranging, producing, mixing, and even mastering every track she releases, this London-based, Nashville-raised pop experimentalist is redefining what it means to be an independent musician in 2025. Her sound? “On a spectrum between classic rock, 2000s pop, and jazz,” she says. Her process? As raw and real as the emotions that fuel it.
Talon’s musical lineage runs deep, “My dad was a guitarist and rock-star extraordinaire, my mom a Disney princess come to life with rambunctious tumbling skills,” she recalls. It’s no surprise that performance is second nature to her. “I grew up singing just as much as talking and always had dreams of being a singer... I felt more comfortable on a stage than I did in conversations.”
But it wasn’t until age 14, when Talon started writing her own songs, that her voice found its full expression. “I realized I had a story to fuel the dream. That this is something I could do forever and ever.”

That realisation gained major traction in 2017 when Talon won the GRAMMY Foundation’s Teens Make Music contest. “It was the first time my music was acknowledged as having meaning on a large scale,” she says. “I realized I wanted to be a part of this collective of people, who dedicated their lives to expressing the human experience through music.”
Talon's journey has been marked by resilience, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I decided to take my education into my own hands... I learned how to produce, to mix, to master, to photograph myself.” These skills became the foundation for what makes her artistry so singular. “It’s entirely my vision... I write music like an author of a book.”
Her 2021 debut album was a personal triumph, a reclaiming of what the pandemic stole. “We had a bunch of friends and family attend a release party where I got to perform most of the songs. It felt like a reclaiming of the recital that COVID stole from my music degree.”
Since moving to London in 2022 “because why not?”, Talon’s music has taken on new depth, shaped by the contrasts of British life and her commitment to growing as an artist. “The music, adventure, and friendships that have come out of it are worth every heatwave or downpour.”
When asked what sets her apart, Talon is refreshingly self-aware: “Nothing is convoluted or watered down by compromise of different visions.” That sense of creative clarity comes through in tracks like Heart’s Mirage, which she names as a personal favorite: “It’s my favourite metaphor I’ve ever written into a song... I return to it for the 'feels' and encouragement.”
If you ask Talon how she wants to be perceived, she’ll throw a curveball that somehow makes perfect sense: “If listeners thought of me as their personal Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, I’d be satisfied. Their musical companion... their whimsical friend spitting truth and hope.”
Her next single, 'Paradise State of Mind' described as an “upbeat summer banger”, drops July 31st. But Talon’s eyes are already on the horizon. “I’m already knee-deep in the next album project, which will be my most challenging undertaking yet.”
Beyond albums and singles, her ambitions stretch to film and theatre: “I’d really love to partner with music supervisors and write directly for TV and film... I’m also writing an original musical. And a Disney type animation. I aspire to just tell good stories.”
In a time where music can often feel mass-produced, Talon David stands as proof that sincerity, craftsmanship, and a singular voice still resonate. Whether you’re drawn in by her genre-defying sound or the sincerity of her lyrics, one thing is clear: Talon David isn’t following the map, she’s drawing her own.
