Get to know Superlative on QH Sound

With roots in Wigan and Wolverhampton, this genre-blending rapper and producer is rapidly carving a name for himself in the UK music scene. Blending UK Rap, Hip-Hop, and Drum and Bass with instinctive storytelling and unshakeable self-awareness, Superlative is an artist as real as they come.

Superlative’s route to recognition wasn’t an overnight fairytale - it was self-engineered grit and community hustle. “I was producing for years and uploading to SoundCloud, but aside from a few school friends, nobody was listening or sharing it. I decided that the best way for people to hear my beats was to rap on them... It just so happened that I’m sick at rapping too.”

This self-belief has led to serious milestones: BBC Introducing’s Track of the Week, a slot on British Airways' in-flight Windrush playlist, and played Glastonbury 2024 and SXSW Texas 2025 alongside OneDa. Not to mention winning Outstanding Act at the Youth Music Awards and representing Manchester artists at the Beyond Conference 2024.

But the real win? His community-backed dream. “My crowdfunded project (Project SPR) that I launched 2 months ago make it possible to be creative, with the help of community.”

You’ll hear it in the music but more so, you’ll feel it in the intention. “Unapologetically mixed. It’s hard to place me in a box. I just make good music.” His sound is fluid, unpredictable, and charged with identity. That same energy carries through his creative process: “I don’t have one solid process. I just strike when it feels right. Then I let instinct take over.”

Ask him what sets him apart, and he offers, “I can do it all. Backflips, cliff dive, fly a plane. You name it. Jokes aside, I’m just me. Nobody else has that.” He’s not interested in fitting the mold, and that’s exactly the point.

Superlative values real connection over clout-driven collabs. “Not every session should be a music session. Make meaningful collaborations, not just career collaborations. That way, you can always respect the music you’ve made.” Still, if he could pick dream collaborators? “Mortimer, because he’s one of the coldest artists out of Jamaica. Tyler, The Creator - he’s a massive influence of mine... Lola Young, the ONLY artist I’ve ever bought a vinyl on pre-release.”

Dig a little deeper and you’ll find an artist who’s just as open about the hard stuff. “I suffer in silence with my mental issues and inner dialogue and I’m always in pursuit of making life enjoyable. Hope that’s not bleak. I don’t care if it is, it’s true.”

The end goal? Happiness. “Mainly, I want to be a happy artist. I want to ensure that that’s the end goal always.”

He’s also refreshingly and humbly candid about the chaos of balancing life and music: “I don’t. Honestly, I just don’t. Feels bad. Needs work.”

Superlative’s heart beats strongest for Project SPR, the crowdfunded project that’s “charged by something bigger than myself.” The connection runs deep - literally. “My best mate Josh was a fan of mine before we knew each other personally... He also has SPR tattooed on him. No pressure.”

With Project SPR in full swing, Superlative’s next goal is clear: Glastonbury 2027! But more than fame, he’s seeking legacy, emotional resonance, and artistic truth. And if you’re wondering how he wants his music to land? “In this instance, I don’t hope. It will reach the people it needs to reach, when it needs to.”

Superlative isn’t chasing fame. He’s building meaning, momentum, and a movement - one unapologetically mixed track at a time. So, whether he’s performing on international stages or sitting in quiet reflection, one thing is certain: Superlative isn’t just making music. He’s making moments.
