From dim-lit studio to hospital wards, MYRY’s world moves to a rhythm that defies the conventional. Based in London but raised in Belgium by Italian parents, MYRY is the result of artistry and intellect. Not just a singer-songwriter and producer, but also a part-time medical doctor, graphic designer, videographer, and, in her own words, “a few more improv job titles I can probably thank my ADHD for haha!”
This multi-faceted creative doesn’t just blur the lines between disciplines, she redefines them entirely.
MYRY’s musical journey wasn’t paved with strategy, it bloomed from instinct. “It’s not so much of a pursue of a career for me, as much as it’s something I do because I love it,” she explains. From early choir days to cover uploads on YouTube, her evolution was organic. But it was 2020 that boosted her artistry into independence. When her initial management support fell away during the pandemic, she embraced the shift: “I cherished the learning curve for the production side of things and enjoyed getting back into it after a break.”
That shift gave rise to a fiercely DIY creator who now manages all aspects of her releases from songwriting to the final edit of her music videos.
There’s a rawness to MYRY’s sound, an “alternative pop with an electronic experimental twist” that mirrors the honesty of her writing process. She captures spontaneous ideas in audio notes, crafts poetry that evolve into melodies, and often begins with a beat that shapes the mood.
Her source material is deeply personal. “Usually the more painful the experience, or feeling, the easier it feels to write about it,” she confesses, citing her journey through undiagnosed ADHD and depression as a wellspring for early creativity. Yet her present challenge feels refreshingly unexpected: “Now that I’m broadly feeling happier, it almost feels unusual not to be sad... I’m still familiarising myself with how to turn that into music.”
MYRY’s dual identity / professional once drew suspicion. “I’ve even been advised to hide being a doctor from the music industry in case they thought I wouldn’t take my music as seriously,” she reveals. But today, she embraces the duality. Her music sometimes draws from the anonymised experiences of patients, weaving empathy into her sonic storytelling.
If anything, her medical training deepens her humanity as an artist. “I hope my music makes listeners feel heard or understood, like they’re not alone in feeling whatever it is they are feeling.”
With over a million streams on Spotify for her single Maze, plus a standout Spotlight performance on BBC Introducing Cambridge & Essex, MYRY is making quiet noise with seismic impact. Her recent music video project for Maze tested every skill she’d honed: “The innumerable hours spent tweaking the lights and camera settings... taught me so much. The track also received an amazing response which made me feel like it had all been worth it.”
And she’s not slowing down. MYRY is releasing tracks at a steady monthly rhythm, all while experimenting with more electronic textures and minimal visual aesthetics.
Whether she’s layering steel drum loops from Valentino Fanizza into “The Weakest Seams” or dreaming of a future collab with Alt-J, MYRY’s versatility is her calling card. But the goal isn’t fame, genre loyalty, or even prolific output. It’s presence. “I strive to always keep learning and improving whilst enjoying the process.”
MYRY is a reminder that true artistry isn’t about fitting in, it’s about tuning in. To yourself, your story, and the sound only you can make.
