Averlie stands out as an unapologetically vibrant force. Based in London, this singer-songwriter fuses mainstream pop, dance-pop, and pop-RnB into a sound that is as infectious as it is emotionally rich. Her music isn’t just for your playlists, it’s for the moments when you need to feel understood and uplifted
Averlie’s story began long before her first studio session. Music was part of her family’s DNA. Her passion for singing traces back to a promise her mother made decades ago.
“My mother grew up in rural China in poor economic conditions. She loved to sing, but she didn’t have the space or the support. Because of that, she vowed to never silence my voice so that I could have the chance she didn’t.”
That promise gave Averlie the freedom to explore her creativity, and eventually, the realisation that music wasn’t simply a dream, it was her life.
“Honestly, it’s a lifestyle more than a career. One day, I realised that I will continue to sing and write songs until the day I die. I just love it so much! It’s wonderful to be able to have a music career, but it’s not a job that you choose. It really is a way of life because it makes up so much of your identity.”
When it comes to describing her sound, Averlie doesn’t hold back. Her music is bold, dramatic, and brimming with personality - yet never loses its emotional honesty.
“My songs are full of glitter and heartache. My lyrics are conversational and direct and unapologetically melodramatic... With an energetic beat, dreamy vocals, and a balance of vulnerability and confidence, my songs make you dance, cry, and float above the clouds.”
Influenced by the greats of modern pop, Averlie draws inspiration from icons like Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish - artists who, like her, thrive on emotional connection and experimentation.
What sets Averlie apart in a saturated pop market? It’s her ability to bend genres without losing her essence.
“While being recognisable for my colourful energy and sugary melodies, my music also crosses into many genres. I’ve done a lot of EDM collaborations, which are sometimes fun and sometimes dark. My Seasons EP was made of pop songs with an indie-folk influence. My Same Thing EP had an RnB feel. Even though my music spans in different directions, it’s all undeniably Averlie. I still write all my melodies and lyrics in every song.”
This fearless approach to genre gives her music an unpredictable yet cohesive edge, a signature sound that feels both fresh and familiar.
For Averlie, songwriting isn’t just about creating hits, it’s about telling stories that resonate. Most of her tracks are born from deeply personal experiences, often shaped by challenges and lessons learned.
“My songs are generally born out of struggles. I love to complain about terrible men and bad relationships. At one point, I realised I needed to have some happy songs too! People would meet me in real life and see how exuberant and bouncy I was, and they would be shocked because so much of my music was sad. Now, I have more songs that reflect my personality, but even my optimistic songs are often inspired by the challenges I’ve experienced.”
Her latest single, “Sweet,” embodies this evolution perfectly. What started as a diss track transformed into an anthem of self-love and gratitude.
“I wrote it when I was feeling sad over how badly a fake friend had treated me and originally, I started the song as a diss track. But over time, as I processed my negative emotions, I realised it didn’t help me to focus on the hurt. Sometimes, other people are just projecting, and their behaviour has nothing to do with you. So I reframed the situation to focus on what I’m grateful for in my life and to appreciate the cool parts of myself.”
Unlike many artists, Averlie doesn’t like to think of her audience as fans. For her, it’s about connection, not celebrity.
“I don’t have fans, I just have friends! People who listen to my music become my friends because we bond over the experiences that I share in my lyrics. From my social media presence, people know that I love travelling, eating desserts, drinking matcha, chasing sunsets, etc.”
Her openness extends beyond music - on social media, she shares everything from her inspirations to her thoughts on mental health and female empowerment.
With a string of new singles on the horizon and a commitment to spreading her “floral, vibrant energy,” Averlie is entering an exciting new chapter.
“I have a few more songs coming out this year! They will all be similar to Sweet, so I’m staying in the same universe of floral, vibrant energy. I will be performing these songs around London, so definitely follow my socials to stay up to date.”
She’s also on a mission to build a creative partnership with a producer who truly understands her artistic vision:
“I don’t have a specific person in mind yet, but I want to meet The Producer who will change my life. Just like how Taylor Swift has an incredible working relationship with Jack Antonoff. My dream is to find someone who understands my artistic vision and can help me bring it to life.”
Why We’re Excited About Averlie: She’s not just another pop artist, she’s a storyteller, a visionary, and a connector. Her music is a safe space for heartache and healing, for empowerment and escape. Whether you’re crying over a situationship or dancing with a hairbrush mic, Averlie has a song for you.
