“Kickback” showcases a blend of trip hop, indie pop and alt pop, reimagining The Fods’ original track through Night Wolf’s production. The result is a chilled, easy-listening track with a relaxed Sunday energy, offering listeners a smooth and uplifting escape.

Only the original vocal sections remain, with the entire instrumental rebuilt from the ground up. Marimba and strings bring a lighter, melodic feel, while the production leans into a more open and accessible sound compared to Night Wolf’s typically darker tones.

Lyrically, the track carries a hopeful and uplifting message, complemented by its laid-back groove. It marks the first collaboration between The Fods and Night Wolf after connecting through radio, with potential for further releases ahead.

The track lends itself naturally to visual media, fitting seamlessly into adverts, film scenes and commercial placements where atmosphere and emotion are key.

The Fods are a transatlantic writing and recording partnership built around a rotating collective of long-time collaborators and new contributors. Rooted in indie punk and driven by guitars, their sound moves across genres while keeping strong melodies and character at its core. Core members include Neil “Birch” Birchall (Vocals), Alan Winn (Backing Vocals), Chris “EZ” Ranson (Guitar), Paul “Ol” Collins (Multi-Instrumentalist) and Rob Critchley (Lyrics/Writer).

Night Wolf is a UK producer, sound designer and engineer with credits across Netflix, Channel 4, Sky, MLB and NFL. Alongside releases on labels including Flipper Music, Deneb Records and Barry Music, he is the founder of EscaVolt Records and No Paw Audio, and provides music for film, TV and game projects, including free-to-use tracks for creators.
