Molly Esmeralda’s music isn’t just something to listen to; it’s an invitation to feel. The Swedish-born, London-based artist has built her career around emotional honesty and cinematic storytelling, crafting indie pop songs that blend vulnerability and strength with modern, dreamy production. For Molly, music is more than a passion—it’s her home. "Music’s really where everything started for me," she shares. "I grew up singing and performing from a young age in Sweden - it was just part of who I was."

Her journey into music took a transformative turn when she decided to release songs of her own, departing from the world of performing other people’s material. "I’ve been singing and performing for as long as I can remember. What changed was wanting to release music that was fully mine, not just performing other people’s material, but telling my own stories and putting my own voice out there," Molly explains. This shift was fueled by her desire to express her truths through her art, embracing her identity rather than interpreting someone else’s.

The creation of "On Without You" and "Over You" was a defining moment for Molly. Initially conceived to encourage people navigating heartbreak, these tracks became deeply personal as she faced her own breakup during the recording process. "The songs became a form of real-time healing," she reveals. "That experience showed me just how powerful and necessary it is to create from a place of truth." It is this rawness and authenticity that listeners have come to expect, and treasure in her work.

Molly’s sound defies easy categorisation, blending indie pop, Scandi-pop, and electropop influences. It’s no surprise that her theatrical roots play a key role in her creative approach. "It’s a little bit pop, a little bit electronic, with some theatrical vibes sneaking in because of my background," she says. Her process is deeply intuitive, beginning with simple melodies and chords at the piano, often in collaboration with co-writers like Joel Nyström. "Once we have a melody and some chords we love, that’s when we start playing around with lyrics. After that, we move into building the track, getting the right feel and atmosphere," Molly explains.

Her achievements are equally impressive. Collaborating with Nick Kingsley and Danny Farrant, Molly has co-written tracks such as "Falling for You" and "Like a Wave," featured in Netflix's Ginny & Georgia, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Love Island. She recalls the excitement of seeing her music reach diverse audiences worldwide, stating, "It’s been incredibly rewarding to see my music reach such wide and diverse audiences."

As Molly looks toward the future, fans have much to anticipate. Her debut solo EP, set to release later this year, promises to delve into themes of love, loss, and resilience, brought to life with cinematic visuals and live performances. "Fans can expect a deeper dive into the emotional landscapes I've been building, with more cinematic visuals and live performances to come," she says, adding that she hopes her music inspires listeners to choose themselves and fight for what they believe in.

For Molly Esmeralda, music is more than a career, it’s a lifeline. "I hope my music reminds people of how strong they are," she reflects. With her ability to transform heartbreak into healing and vulnerability into connection, Molly Esmeralda isn’t just an artist, she’s a storyteller who dares to bare her soul in every note.
